1946: By the Linggajati agreement, Dutch recognize Republic of Indonesia authority in Java, Sumatra and Madura. Both sides agree to form United States of Indonesia with Netherlands crown as symbolic head. On March 25, 1947, the agreement will be formally signed by the government of Republic of Indonesia and Dutch government in Jakarta
