The main Jewish communities in the early Middle Ages were in the following cities: Merv, Balkh, Ghazni, Herat, Kabul and Nishapur. There were smaller pockets of Jewish settlement in Khush-Khak and Ferozkoh-Jam

Afghan relics rescued from ruins, restored in Japan

A mural and clay figure unearthed at a Buddhist archaeological site in Afghanistan have been restored after they were brought to Japan because of poor security in the country
